Legal Obligation to Compensate

Anyone who causes damage to others is legally obligated to compensate for it. With Allianz Pet Owners' Liability Insurance, you are optimally protected, for example, if your pet damages another person's property.

Example Calculation

The originally displayed starting price of €5.85 refers to the Smart tariff and is an example for a dog (large/small mixed breed) with no previous damage in the last five years (with a €150 deductible for a contract term of three years with monthly payment).

The example calculation changes when you enter "animal".

Animal information depends on the selection: Dog = small mixed breed / Horse = height under 148 cm. For multiple animals, the most economical combination of two dogs/horses will always be charged.

Rental Property Damage Example

For example, rental property damage occurs when your dog knocks over a chair, which then damages the parquet floor in your rental apartment.

Defense Against Unjustified Claims

Also insured is the defense against unjustified claims from third parties after a loss event, e.g. if there is no legal liability.

Insured Sum

The insured sum indicates the maximum compensation in the event of a claim.

Value Limits for Services

If individual service components have different upper value limits, these are indicated in the table.

Borrowed Items

Damage to borrowed items, such as damage to a transport box borrowed for your dog, is also covered.

Self-Employed Use

You use your animal in a self-employed part-time job and your animal causes damage.

Replacement Value Instead of Current Value

Instead of the statutory current value, the replacement value of the damaged item will be reimbursed. In the Comfort line, the damaged item must be no more than one year old. In the Premium line, we replace items up to two years old at their replacement value.

Shared Liability Does Not Reduce Benefits

For example, if your animal injures another animal and the other animal owner is also liable, we will not reduce our benefits.

Animal Rescue Costs

The costs of animal rescue are covered, for example if a dog has to be rescued from a badger's sett.

Claims Against Insolvent Third Parties

If the policyholder suffers damage caused by an insolvent third party, the loss of the claim will be covered.

Sporting Events

Also covered are claims for damages arising from participation in sporting events, such as dog sled races.

Damage in Rented Apartments

For example, the insurance covers cases where a dog vomits on the permanently laid carpet of a rental apartment and the resulting stains have to be professionally removed by a company.

Unwanted Mating Costs

The insurance covers the subsequent costs of an unwanted mating, such as an abortion or if the other animal is injured during the desired mating.

Hotel and Vacation Rental Damages

Damage to furnishings in hotels or rented holiday accommodations is also covered.
