What is a Riester pension?

Explanation: The Riester pension is a form of private retirement provision that is supported by the state – through allowances and possible additional tax benefits.

  • Government allowances: Under certain conditions, you can receive several allowances with your Riester pension. In addition to the basic allowance, for example, you can also receive a child allowance or a bonus for newcomers to the job market.
  • Product details: The Allianz Riester pension guarantees you a secure pension for life. At the start of your retirement, you'll have access to at least the contributions paid up to that point plus government subsidies. You can either focus on security or combine security with capital market opportunities.

Benefit from various allowances with the Riester pension

You will receive the full annual (Riester) allowances if you pay 4 percent of your previous year's gross income less the allowances into your contract up to a maximum of 2,100 euros per year:

  • the basic allowance of 175 euros
  • the allowance of 175 euros for indirectly eligible spouses or life partners
  • the child allowance of 185 euros for children born before 2008 and 300 euros for children born from 2008 onwards
  • the one-off entry-level bonus of 200 euros for those under 25

Generally, you don't receive the Riester subsidy automatically; you must apply for it yourself. Allianz is happy to take care of this for you. The easiest way to do this is to apply for a permanent subsidy, which authorizes Allianz to apply for the annual subsidy on your behalf.

In addition to the allowances, you can benefit from possible tax advantages: in your tax return, you can claim your paid contributions together with the allowances as special expenses up to a maximum of 2,100 euros.
